Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

In Year 4, children continue to develop their independence and start to prepare for their transition and learning in Upper KS2. It is in this year that children will take the new mandatory multiplication check in the summer term and take part in swimming lessons.

As part of our broad and enquiring curriculum, the children will study topics with robust curriculum connections that build on the knowledge and skills developed in previous years.

Along the same corridor as Year 3, Year 4 pupils grow to become great role models for the younger children arriving from KS1.

Home Learning

Maths
MyMaths set on Mondays and due back two weeks later
Timestable Rockstar practice – as often as possible – 3-5 minutes daily

Reading
Reading records once per week. Children will have different due dates written on their read record

Spellings
Spelling set on Wednesday and due the following Wednesday

TTRS

We recommend a “little and often” approach; 3 minutes of practice a day, 4 or 5 times a week is a good target
