Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

In Year 1, we build on the children’s learning from Reception. Every day, there are lessons in reading, writing, phonics and maths. Alongside these, children are supported in becoming more independent and developing key knowledge and skills in all of the other curriculum areas.

Oracy is fundamental in all parts of our day, both inside and outside the classroom as we want our children to start to learn how to be confident speakers.

The Year 1 playground is a great space for children to participate in additional outdoor learning and we are incredibly lucky to be able to make real use of our fantastic local resource, Pitshanger Park.
