Year GroupsYear 1
Welcome to Year 1
In Year 1 we believe it is extremely important to provide plenty of opportunities to explore a play-based curriculum. We build on the children’s learning from Reception. Every day there are lessons in reading, writing, phonics and maths. Alongside these, children are supported in becoming more independent and developing key knowledge and skills in all of the other curriculum areas. The Year 1 playground is a great space for children to participate in additional outdoor learning and daily exercise. Children are encouraged to be creative and to use their imagination when learning – song, dance & drama form part of the children’s daily activities!
See curriculum maps for further information about the Year 1 curriculum.
