School Choir

North Ealing Primary School

On September 6th, 2021, we held our first full school assembly for over 18 months! As part of this, we included an ‘old favourite’ song about Sustainability not knowing if the pupils would remember it or even ‘feel’ like singing! They did!

Singing is a regular part of our teaching model and, this year, all teachers have access to the amazing ‘Sing Up’ site with hundreds of songs on all topics and themes, in all musical styles and all sorted by age-suitability. We are hoping to quickly blossom, once again, as a ‘school that sings’!

The School Choir meets on Wednesdays from 3:25-3:55 and all in Years 3-6 are welcome. Years 6, additionally, have the option of joining a Chamber Choir.

All pupils are welcome if THEY wish to enjoy an extra challenge.

They are asked to sign up in class and then ask YOU to respond on school comms when the notification arrives. We use this same method with other music groups so that every singer/player WANTS to be there.

Due to safeguarding considerations, we maintain a register of attendance. If a child cannot attend due to illness/ appointments etc we do expect that you notify us as early as possible.

Once we have started, we will post backing tracks and lyrics here for use at home – but do look at the Home School Choir tab in the meantime!

Regards, Nic Mehew (Music Lead)

Someone you loved (Lyrics)

I’m going under and this time I fear there’s no one to save me.
This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy.
I need somebody to heal,
Somebody to know,
Somebody to have,
Somebody to hold.
It’s easy to say,
But it’s never the same,
I guess I kinda liked the way you numbed all the pain.

Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall,
And you’re not here
To get me through it all.
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug.
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.

I’m going under and this time I fear there’s no one to turn to.
This all or nothing way of loving got me sleeping without you.
Now I need somebody to know,
Somebody to heal,
Somebody to have,
Just to know how it feels.
It’s easy to say,
But it’s never the same,
I guess I kinda liked the way you helped me escape.

Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall,
And you’re not here
To get me through it all.
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug.
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.
And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes,
I fall into your arms.
I’ll be safe in your sound ‘til I come back around.

For now the day bleeds
Into nightfall,
And you’re not here
To get me through it all.
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug.
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.

But now the day bleeds
Into nightfall,
And you’re not here
To get me through it all.
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug.
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.

I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug.
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.

Born to Be Wild (Lyrics)

Get your motor runnin’,
Head out on the highway.
Lookin’ for adventure,
And whatever comes our way.
Yeah darlin’ go and make it happen,
Take the world in a love embrace.
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space.

I like smoke and lightnin’,
Heavy metal thunder.
Racin’ with the wind,
And the feeling that I’m under.
Yeah darlin’ go and make it happen,
Take the world in a love embrace.
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space.

Like a true nature’s child,
We were born, born to be wild.
We can climb so high,
I never wanna die.

Born to be wild,
Born to be wild.

[Instrumental]

Get your motor runnin’,
Head out on the highway.
Lookin’ for adventure,
And whatever comes our way.
Yeah darlin’ go make it happen,
Take the world in a love embrace.
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space.

Like a true nature’s child
We were born, born to be wild.
We can climb so high,
I never wanna die.

Born to be wild,
Born to be wild.

Refuge Lyrics

There’s always someone standing on their own outside the crowd
Who looks bewildered and confused.
They try to make some sense of all the jostling and the jokes
But still they don’t look that amused.

What place, what life, what did they leave behind?
What sights, what sounds, what thoughts are on their mind?

I’ve noticed that your accent has an unfamiliar sound;
Sometimes it seems you hate us all.
In silence you retreat into a closed and private world
Behind your own protective wall.

What crimes, what hurt, what wars have you survived?
What hopes, what dreams were left when you arrived?

Who’ll be your refuge, your shelter, your fortress?
Who’ll be your champion?
Who’ll be your refuge, your pilot, your brother,
Your northern star?

Who will be your second sight;
The light that guides your way at night?
Don’t be down-hearted.
I’ll be your refuge, I’ll be your refuge.

There’s nothing wrong with being shy and ev’rybody knows
That fools speak louder than the rest.
(That fools speak louder than the rest.)

Let no one tell you how to think or what is right or true
You are not weak or second best.
(You are not weak or second best.)

What crimes, what hurt, what wars have you survived?
What hopes, what dreams were left when you arrived?
(What crimes, what hurt, what wars have you survived?
What hopes, what dreams were left when you arrived?)

I’ll be your refuge, your shelter, your fortress,
I’ll be your champion.
I’ll be your refuge, your pilot, your brother,
Your northern star.

I will be your second sight;
The light that guides your way at night.
Don’t be down-hearted.
I’ll be your refuge, I’ll be your refuge,
I’ll be your refuge, I’ll be your refuge,
I’ll be your refuge.
(I’ll be your refuge, I’ll be your refuge,
I’ll be your refuge, I’ll be your refuge,
I’ll be your refuge.)

Believe Lyrics

When I look up to the stars,
There’s a burning deep inside me
And I feel a power growing in my soul.
There is something I can sense,
Deep within a dream to guide me,
And I know that I am reaching for my goal.

I can do anything at all,
I can climb the highest mountain,
I can feel the ocean calling wild and free.
I can be anything I want,
With this hope to drive me onward,
If I can just believe in me.

When the skies are dark and grey,
We still know the sun is shining:
Though it’s out of sight, its light is glowing still.
And as long as I believe,
There is nothing I can’t wish for;
Not a dream that I’m unable to fulfill.

(Oo oo oo oo)

I can do anything at all,
I can climb the highest mountain,
I can feel the ocean calling wild and free.
I can be anything I want,
With this hope to drive me onward,
If I can just believe in me.

(Ah ah ah,
If I can just believe in me.)

And whatever it takes I’ll find it somehow;
Whatever it needs I’ll show I’m strong.
Whatever it takes I’ll make it happen:
Finding out where I belong.

(I’ll find it somehow.
I’ll show I’m strong, I’ll show I’m strong.
I’ll make it happen:
Finding out where I belong.)

While the world is spinning round,
I can sometimes lose direction
And I know how hard it is to find my way.
But with friends around to care,
There is nothing I can’t handle,
And I’ll face the future treasuring each day.

(Oo oo oo oo)

I can do anything at all,
I can climb the highest mountain,
I can feel the ocean calling wild and free.
I can be anything I want,
With this hope to drive me onward,
If I can just believe in me.

(Ah ah ah,
If I can just believe in me.)

Ain’t Gonna… Lyrics

(Melody 1)
Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around,
Turn me around, turn me around.
Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around,
Keep on walkin’, keep on talkin’,
Walkin’ to the freedom land.

(Melody 2)
Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me,
Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me,
Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me,
Keep on walkin’, keep on talkin’, yeah.

(Melody 3)
Ain’t gonna let nobody,
Ain’t gonna let no, no, nobody.

Medley Lyrics

Swing low, sweet chariot
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home,
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home.

When the saints go marching in
Oh, when the saints, go marching in,
Oh, when the saints, go marching in,
I wanna be in that number,
Oh when the saints go marching in.

I’m gonna sing
I’m gonna sing, sing, sing,
I’m gonna dance, dance, dance,
I’m gonna sing. I’m gonna dance, allelu!
When the gates are open wide
I’ll be standing by your side,
I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna dance, allelu!

I Wish I Knew How Lyrics

I wish I knew how it would feel to be free.
I wish I could break all the chains holding me.
I wish I could say all the things that I should say
Say ‘em loud, say ‘em clear
For the whole round world to hear.

I wish I could share all the love that’s in my heart.
Remove all the bars that keep us apart.
I wish you could know what it means to be me,
Then you’d see, and agree
That ev’ry man should be free.

I wish I could give like I’m longing to give.
I wish I could live like I’m longing to live.
I wish I could do all the things that I can do
And tho’ I’m way overdue
I’d be starting anew.

Well I wish I could be like a bird in the sky.
How sweet it would be if I found I could fly.
Oh I’d soar to the sun and look down at the sea,
Then I’d sing ‘cos I know
How it feels to be free.

Then I’d sing ‘cos I know
How it feels to be free.

Yes I’d sing ‘cos I know
How it feels to be free!

Make Your Own Kind of Music Lyrics

Nobody can tell ya,
there’s only one song worth singing.
They may try and sell ya,
cos it hangs them up to see someone like you.

But you’ve gotta make your own kind of music,
sing your own special song.
Make your own kind of music,
even if nobody else sings along.

You’re gonna be nowhere,
the loneliest kind of lonely.
It may be rough going:
just to do your thing’s the hardest thing to do.

But you’ve gotta make your own kind of music,
sing your own special song.
Make your own kind of music,
even if nobody else sings along.

So if you cannot take my hand,
and if you must be going, I will understand.

You’ve gotta make your own kind of music,
sing your own special song.
Make your own kind of music,
even if nobody else sings along.

(sing last chorus three times)
You’ve gotta sing!

Hope Lyrics

ALL

Hope is the way through the deepest maze,
Hope is the road to freedom.
Hope is the dream that we hold onto
When the troubles are hard
And when I feel low.
Hope is the friend we need around,
When life is changing
As it’s never changed before.
Hope takes us through the darkness
Brings us to the light
It’s been a brother
And a sister to me!

Hope is the way through the deepest maze,
(Showing the way we have to go)
Hope is the road to freedom.
(It is setting all the prisoners free)
Hope is the dream that we hold onto
(Giving us light)
When the troubles are hard
(When the troubles are so hard)
And when I feel low.
(and when I feel so low)
Hope is the friend we need around,
(Friends will always be around to help us)
When life is changing
As it’s never changed before.
(Friends will always be around).
Hope takes us through the darkness
Brings us to the light
(Brings us to the light)

BOTH:
It’s been a brother
And a sister to me!

Both (STRONGLY)

Hope is the friend we need around,
When life is changing
As it’s never changed before.
Hope takes us through the darkness
Brings us to the light (PAUSE)!
It’s been a brother
And a sister to me!

(Rice pudding, I want to get married
With a little miss from San Nicolas.
That she can knit, that she can embroider,
That she can open the door to go out and play.
With this one yes, with this one no,
With this one I will get married).

La farolera Lyrics

La farolera tropezó,
Y en la calle se cayó,
Y al pasar por un cuartel
Se enamoró de un coronel.
Alcen les barreras para que pase
La farolera de la puerta del sol.
Sube la escalera y enciende el farol,
A la media noche me puse a contar
Y todas las cuentas me salieron mal.
Dos y dos son cuatro,
Cuatro y dos son seis,
Seis y dos son ocho
y Ocho dieciséis.
Ocho veinticuatro
Y ocho treinta y dos,
Anima bendita me arrodillo en vos.

(The lamplighter stumbled,
She fell down in the street,
As she passed by some barracks
She fell in love with a colonel.
Raise up the flags so she can pass
Through the Gate of the Sun.
She goes up the ladder and lights the lamp,
At midnight, I started to count
But all of my figures came out wrong.
Two and two are four,
Four and two are six,
Six and two are eight,
and eight sixteen
And eight twenty-four
And eight thirty-two
Blessed soul, I kneel down before you).

(I have a little doll that is dressed in blue,
With a little dress and lace shawl.
I took her out for a stroll and she got sick,
I put her in bed as she wasn’t feeling well.
This morning the doctor told me,
that I should give her some syrup with a fork).

Bad Guys Lyrics

We could’ve been anything that we wanted to be,
But don’t it make your heart glad
That we decided, a fact we take pride in,
To become the best at being bad.

We could’ve been anything that we wanted to be,
With all the talent we had.
No doubt about it, we whine and we pout it,
We’re the very best at being bad guys.

We’re rotten to the core,
and my congratulations,
No one likes you anymore.
Bad guys. We’re the very worst,
Each of us contemptible, we’re criticised and cursed.
We made the big time, malicious and mad.
We’re the very best at being bad.

We could’ve been anything that we wanted to be,
We took the easy way out.
With little training, we mastered complaining.
Manners seemed unnecessary.
We’re so rude, it’s almost scary.

We could’ve been anything that we wanted to be,
With all the talent we had.
With little practice, we made ev’ry blacklist.
We’re the very best at being bad.
We’re the very best at being bad.
We’re the very best at being bad.

Skyfall Lyrics

This is the end;
hold your breath and count to ten.
Feel the earth move and then
hear my heart burst again.
For this is the end;
I’ve drowned and dreamt this moment.
So overdue I owe them.
Swept away, I’m stolen.
Let the sky fall,
when it crumbles
we will stand tall
and face it all together.
Let the sky fall,
when it crumbles
we will stand tall
and face it all together
at Skyfall,
at Skyfall.
Skyfall is where we start,
a thousand miles and poles apart,
where worlds collide and days are dark.
You may have my number,
you can take my name,
but you’ll never have my heart.
Let the sky fall,
(Let the sky fall)
when it crumbles
(when it crumbles)
we will stand tall
(we will stand tall)
and face it all together.
Let the sky fall,
(Let the sky fall)
when it crumbles
(when it crumbles)
we will stand tall
(we will stand tall)
and face it all together
at Skyfall,
at Skyfall.

Let the sky fall,
(Let the sky fall)
when it crumbles
(when it crumbles)
we will stand tall
(we will stand tall)
and face it all together
Let the sky fall,
(Let the sky fall)
when it crumbles
(when it crumbles)
we will stand tall
(we will stand tall)
and face it all together
at Skyfall,
at Skyfall.

Feeling Good Lyrics

Birds flying high, you know how I feel.
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel.
Breeze drifting on by, you know how I feel.
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me,
And I’m feeling good.

Fish in the sea, you know how I feel.
River running free, you know how I feel.
Blossom on the tree, you know how I feel.
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me,
And I’m feeling good.

Dragonfly out in the sun, you know what I mean, don’t you know?
Butterflies all having fun, you know what I mean.
Sleep in peace when day is done: that’s what I mean.
And this old world is a new world, and a bold world for me.

Stars when you shine, you know how I feel.
Scent of the pine, you know how I feel.
Oh freedom is (a)mine, And I know how I feel.
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me,
And I’m feeling good.
And I’m feeling good.
And I’m feeling good.

Three Little Birds Lyrics

Don’t worry
About a thing,
’Cos ev’ry little thing
’Sgonna be alright.

Singin’ don’t worry
About a thing
’Cos ev’ry little thing
’Sgonna be alright.

Rise up this morning,
Smile with the rising sun,
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Singin’, ‘This is my message to you.’

Singin’ don’t worry
About a thing
’Cos ev’ry little thing
’Sgonna be alright.

Singin’ don’t worry
About a thing
’Cos ev’ry little thing
’Sgonna be alright.

Rise up this morning,
Smile with the rising sun,
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Singin’, ‘This is my message to you.’

Singin’ don’t worry
About a thing
’Cos ev’ry little thing
’Sgonna be alright.

Singin’ don’t worry
About a thing
’Cos ev’ry little thing
’Sgonna be alright.

1440 Minutes Vocal Accompaniment
Basin Street Lyrics

Won’t you come along with me?
To the Mississippi.
We’ll take a boat to the land of dreams
And steam down the river, down in New Orleans.

You know the band’s there to meet us,
Old friends to greet us,
Where all the people always meet,
Way down yonder, down in Basin Street.

Oh, Basin Street is the street
Where all good friends always meet.
In New Orleans, the land of dreams,
You’ll never know how nice it seems,
Or just how much it really means.
Glad to be, yes siree,
Where welcome’s free and dear to me,
Where I can lose my Basin Street blues.

Oh, Basin Street is the street
Where all good friends always meet.
In New Orleans, the land of dreams,
You’ll never know how nice it seems,
Or just how much it really means.
Glad to be, yes siree,
Where welcome’s free and dear to me,
Where I can lose my Basin Street blues.
Lose my Basin Street blues.
Yeah!

How far I'll go Lyrics

I’ve been staring at the edge of the water,
Long as I can remember,
Never really knowing why.

I wish I could be the perfect daughter,
But I come back to the water,
No matter how hard I try.

Ev’ry turn I take, ev’ry trail I track,
Ev’ry path I make, ev’ry road leads back
To the place I know where I cannot go,
Where I long to be.

See the line where the sky meets the sea?
It calls me.
And no one knows
How far it goes.
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me,
One day I’ll know,
If I go there’s just no telling how far I’ll go.

I know ev’rybody on this island
Seems so happy on this island.
Ev’rything is by design.

I know ev’rybody on this island
Has a role on this island
So maybe I can roll with mine.

I can lead with pride,
I can make us strong.
I’ll be satisfied if I play along
But the voice inside sings a diff’rent song
What is wrong with me?

See the light as it shines on the sea:
It’s blinding,
But no one knows
How deep it goes.
And it seems like it’s calling out to me,
So come find me.
And let me know
What’s beyond that line, will I cross that line?

Jubilee Song Lyrics

Verse 1
When the world has turned to darkness
And there’s troubled seas ahead
There’s a light that leads the ship back home to shore.

Chorus

A life lived with grace
A heart filled with love
Peace on earth and harmony in the heavens above.

Verse 2
When the day is slowly breaking
And the dawn can’t find its way
There’s a sun that shines upon the world heralding a brand-new day.

Chorus

A life lived with grace…etc

Verse 3
When the night has come a-calling
And the daylight starts to fade
There’s a reason why the world rejoices
singing all as one today.

A life lived with grace…etc.

Forty Years On An Iceberg Lyrics

Seventy years to remember,
Seventy years of rule,
Leading us through all the hard times,
Our Queen Elizabeth’s cool!
Now we can celebrate her in this Summer Fair!
So let’s come out and raise a shout
To show her that we care!

Being a queen’s not easy,
There is so much to do,
Visiting all of your people,
(Can you remember who?).
Always there with a smile for
The people you inspire..
Seventy years is a long, long time
But still you never tire!

When you came to the throne
In 1953,
Still only 25 but all of us will agree,
You’re determined to nurture
and give of your best!
Leading the country for seventy years –
You need to have a rest!

Seventy years to remember,
Seventy years of rule,
Leading us through all the hard times,
Our Queen Elizabeth’s cool!
Now we can celebrate her in this Summer Fair!
So let’s come out and raise a shout
To show her that we care!
