NEPS Personal Development and Wellbeing
Personal Development and Wellbeing at NEPS
At North Ealing Primary School, we believe education is about far more than academic achievement. We are committed to nurturing happy, confident and aspirational pupils who are equipped to thrive both now and in the future. As a Rights Respecting School, we place children’s rights at the heart of our ethos and daily practice – we ensure that every pupil understands their rights. Our approach to personal development focuses on character, values and a strong sense of responsibility and citizenship. Through the PSHE and RHE curriculum, pupils develop self-awareness, resilience, healthy relationships and the skills to make informed choices about their wellbeing. The Religious Education curriculum allows them to deepen their understanding of diverse beliefs and worldviews and cultivate respect, empathy and open-mindedness towards others. Alongside this, our focus on SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development) and British Values ensures that pupils explore fundamental principles such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance. Through assemblies, enrichment activities and school-wide initiatives – children celebrate diversity, learn the importance of equality and inclusion and cultivate empathy and compassion. These experiences equip pupils to contribute positively to society, develop strong social and emotional skills and grow as responsible, well-rounded individuals.
Wellbeing and personal growth are at the heart of school life. We support pupils’ emotional resilience, self-confidence and growth mindset while promoting physical and mental health, online and offline safety and age-appropriate learning about healthy relationships. By providing guidance and opportunities tailored to each stage of their education, North Ealing ensures that every child feels valued, supported and prepared to flourish academically, socially and personally in an ever-changing world.
Zone of Regulation
At North Ealing, we encourage children to talk about their emotions and feelings. To make this more manageable, we use a system that categorizes feelings, levels of alertness, and energy into four coloured zones: Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red.
We invite parents and carers to use the resources below at home to support your child in continuing to express their emotions. These resources include helpful tips for each zone, along with a breathing exercise to promote self-regulation and well-being.
Children’s Well-Being Charter
Our School Council has developed a Children’s Well-being Charter for all pupils at NEPS. This charter outlines the measures in place to support the well-being and mental health of every child.
It details the commitment of NEPS staff to fostering a supportive environment, as well as the resources and opportunities available to pupils to ensure their mental health and well-being are prioritized.
Staff Well Being Charter
At NEPS, we recognise the importance of supporting the mental health and well-being of our staff. This year, we have developed our own Staff Well-being Charter, incorporating the views and suggestions of our team to create a positive and supportive work environment.
Our charter outlines the measures in place to ensure that all staff feel valued, supported, and empowered in the workplace.
