Design Technology Curriculum

Our North Ealing Primary School Design & Technology (DT) curriculum has been designed, in line with the national curriculum, to provide children with a real-life context for learning.

Through our DT curriculum, we want children to be inspired by engineers, designers, chefs and architects to enable them to create a range of structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food products buy propecia pills india with a real-life purpose and a consideration for sustainability and practical application.

Our teaching of DT follows the design, make and evaluate cycle – giving each stage equal weight. The design process is rooted in real life, relevant contexts to give meaning to learning.

While making, we try to give children a range of materials and tools to choose freely from. Finally, children learn to evaluate their own products against design criteria.

Every term, each year group plan a week-long programme of Art and DT linked to one of the curriculum themes.

Children explore areas in-depth and are then given the opportunity to showcase their skills and progress made by displaying and sharing the work they create.

Beyond ‘Art’s Week’, children are given opportunities to apply their skills and creativity across the curriculum.
